Citizen science can bridge the gap between school science and the real world

Citizen science refers to projects in which non-professional scientists generate or analyze data. If there would be a systematic implementation of those projects at a school-level, that would help avoid the problem of science in the classroom is separated from the real world outside, and at the same time it would give students a purpose and has the potential of massively helping scientists.

The only project I am aware of that targets this specific niche is Astroplant. Students can grow plants under different conditions and share the data with a central hub that collects them and serves scientists trying to understand how to grow plants in space and generate circular economies.
